 Coyotes hunt rabbits, rats, lizards, birds, antelopes, big horn sheep, and livestock
 Mountain lions hunt rabbits, birds, sheep, antelopes, and livestock
 Scorpions hunt insects, small lizaerds, and other arachnids.

Waypoint Endangered Species

The Peninsular Big Horn Sheep is on the endangered species list due to disease, predation, habitat loss and other human interference. As humans go further into their habitat the sheep suffers. Humans hunt it for sport and develop the lands they live on which is taking it's toll on the sheep.

 Mutualism- two or more organisms work together in a common good. This bat loves to drink necter and in the process it is pollinating this cactus. The bat is fed and the cactus can reproduce.
 Commensalism- where one organism benefiets and the other is unaffected. Some birds build nest on top of cacti. This keeps the nest off the ground and prevents predators from climbing into the nest.
 Parasitism-where one organism benefeits at another's expense. This is a coyote with mange(a baldness caused by mites). The mites eat at the coyote and the hair loss they cause exposes it to the harsh desert sun.
 Competion-two or more organisms compete for the same resources. Both the coyote and cougar eat the same foods so one will usually live in one area while the other will have a different territory

 Desert plants, sparse as they are, are the producers in desert food webs.
1st level consumers are usualy herbnivorous insects(cricket), reptiles(Sonoran desert tortoise), birds(Costa's hummingbird)and mammals( desert cottontail).
2nd level consumers are carnivorous reptiles(gila monster), arachnids(scorpion), insects(tarantula hawk wasp), mammals(coyote), and birds(red-tail hawk).
3rd level consumers are creatures that have no compunction about eating other canivores, suchas coyotes, hawks, and mountain lions.
Scavengers are creatures that are willing to or prfer to eat the dead. These include coyotes and vultures.
